Job description
Overview

We are seeking a Psychiatric Liaison Service Clinician to join our Psychiatric Liaison Service in Buckinghamshire. The Bucks Psychiatric Liaison Service (PLS) provides liaison psychiatry for patients in acute psychiatric states presenting to the Acute Hospital Trust and, where appropriate, assessment, liaison and treatment advice to meet mental health and physical needs. The role includes crisis assessments within hospital settings and providing expert mental health advice, support and training to staff. You must be able to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure care is safe, effective and of high quality. We are a small, focused team working towards PLAN accreditation and are seeking someone with proven teamwork skills.

This role will require clinicians to work 3 long days per week on a rota system with 4 rest days. The post also involves providing mental health services at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe General Hospital, ensuring patients\' mental health needs are met alongside their physical needs.

Responsibilities
  • Function autonomously, managing assessments in a busy and challenging environment
  • Arrange and provide brief evidence-based psycho-social treatments for patients who have self-harmed
  • Support timely and safe discharge from wards, working closely with the acute Trust to avoid unnecessary prolonged hospital stays
  • Contribute to reducing unnecessary inpatient admissions to secondary care and support appropriate care packages as alternatives to admission
Requirements and travel

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential. If based outside the UK, you must be fully qualified, have passed your OSCE, and hold an NMC pin number or HCPC registration to be considered.
