An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Property Assistant based at North Kent Police Station. Please note that though this position is based at North Kent, there will be the requirement to cover other property stores countywide when deemed necessary therefore a full and clean UK driving licence is essential. This role is full time, however applications for part-time hours are welcomed.

This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to receive, log and store all items of seized property. This includes updating movements of property on the Police computer system, to and from officers and staff as and when required, reviewing the need to retain items by ascertaining when property can be disposed of via the Officer in the Case, arranging for its return or disposal as appropriate to ensure that the property retained in storage is kept to a minimum. The role also requires consultation with the Property Team Leader with regards to items suitable for auction of disposal by other means.

You will be self-motivated, able to work unsupervised at times and will also work well within a team. The post does involve manual handling; therefore, you will need a basic knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and be able to perform these duties using safe manual handling practices. Whilst training will be provided, it is advantageous for candidates to have the ability to evaluate and mitigate risks.

Competent IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word and Excel) is essential, however training will be provided for bespoke Software Packages used in this role.

The successful candidate will possess a good all-round education to at least GCSE A-C standard or equivalent in English and Maths, have excellent communication skills demonstrating the ability to deal with calls from members of the public as well as other agencies and organisations. You will also be able to plan and organise tasks effectively and deal with multiple tasks by prioritising, using strong customer service skills.

Knowledge of the Police environment and policy, as well as previous experience in Managing Police Information (MOPI) would be advantageous.

Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of£29,424.00.
