We are seeking a highly organised and flexible individual to join our Projects Team and support the delivery of exciting council projects that make a real difference in Taunton.
The Project Assistant will play a key role in project development, coordination, and reporting – keeping everything on track and compliant with standards. If you’re collaborative, detail-focused, and passionate about supporting community-focused work, we would love to hear from you!
Main Duties
- Support the delivery of projects from conception to execution in alignment with project management practices.
- Conduct research and draft reports and proposals.
- Coordinate the implementation of Council and/or Committee projects.
- Offer project support across various Council areas to facilitate service development and improvement.
- Produce project management documentation, including scopes, schedules, and risk assessments.
- Organise and attend site visits for scoping and established projects in the Taunton area.
- Manage resources allocated to projects.
- Assist in organising Council projects, including promotional material production.
- Attend evening committee meetings as needed and deputise for other officers.
- Join a panel to evaluate quotations and tenders in line with financial regulations.
- Prepare orders, specifications, and contracts for Council-initiated projects.
- Ensure event/project schedules do not conflict with other community activities.
- Prepare Project Plans, monitoring progress and reporting.
- Research and report on new project opportunities.
- Record meeting notes related to event/project organisation.
- Monitor project budgets and deliverables, preparing reports for funders.
- Liaise with community groups, partner organisations, and contractors.
- Organising, attending and collecting information and acting as point of contact for the Town Council at consultation events.
- Maintain relationships with external contractors and manage work programs.
- Embrace principles of equality and diversity.
