Job summary

A community support organization in Belfast is looking for a support worker for their 24-hour mental health supported housing service. The ideal candidate will help Service Users manage their health and wellbeing through a person-centered approach. Flexibility is essential due to the shift work required. Qualifications

Job description

At Inspire, we believe in supporting people to live with dignity and realise their full potential. Our Fountainville service is a 24-hour supported housing setting for adults (aged 18-65) with enduring mental health challenges including schizophrenia, and personality disorders.Here, residents live across four houses, each with their own ensuite bedroom and shared living spaces. Our approach is rooted in empathy, independence-building, and person-centred support.

Responsibilities
  • Develop & maintain a trusting & professional relationship with Service Users and act in a supportive & empathetic manner towards them.
  • Contribute to & help maintain a harmonious and therapeutic environment.
  • Support Service Users to manage their Mental health, physical health and wellbeing through the development, implementation and monitoring of individual wellbeing and safety management plans.
  • Actively encourage the involvement of Service Users in all aspects of decision making, be sensitive and seek solutions to difficulties encountered by them.
  • Deliver care & support within the context of a social inclusion and recovery approach which is designed to work with people to find and maintain hope, re-establish a positive identity, build a meaningful life and take responsibility and control.
Skills and Qualifications
  • To be flexible as the role will involve working on a rota/shift basis in Supported Housing. Shifts will include early shifts, late shifts, night shifts, weekend and/or night cover as required to meet the needs of the scheme
  • Be educated to QCF/NVQ Level 2, or equivalent, in a related subject e.g. Care and 6 months paid experience supporting people within a health and social care setting.OR
  • A minimum of 12 months paid experience supporting people within a health and social care setting.
  • Have proven experience of motivating, supporting and mentoring Service Users.
  • Experience of maintaining service user and agency records.
  • Working knowledge of using IT systems.
