Overview

Nomad Foods was formed in 2015 and with revenues of €2.9bn is the largest frozen food company in Europe. Nomad owns a portfolio of leading brands including Birds Eye, Findus and iglo, supplemented in 2018 with the purchase of Goodfellas Pizza and Aunt Bessie’s, and in 2021 with the purchase of Ledo and Frikom.

We manufacture and distribute a range of branded frozen food products across 22 European countries with the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Sweden and France representing our five largest markets.

We are proposing that our new Shared Finance Centre will house both our Financial Accounting teams and our Financial Planning and Analysis Centre of Expertise.

The role will play a key role to drive a finance transformation programme focused on end-to-end Record-to-Report process excellence and digitisation. This role will own RTR design and delivery—from process harmonisation and controls enhancement to technology-enabled improvements (e.g., ERP optimisation, close automation, reconciliations, and analytics)—working closely with Financial Reporting, Controllership, and Technology.

The candidate will work closely with the Cluster Financial Directors, Plant Business Partners, Head of Financial Accounting and other senior stakeholders across the business as a key member of the SFC Finance leadership team, providing technical insight, controls, accounting support and leadership.

Responsibilities

Close & Reconciliation Tools Management

  • Oversee and optimize the use of tools such as BlackLine for:
  • Journal entries
  • Intercompany transactions
  • Account reconciliations
  • Task management during period close
  • Ensure system configurations and workflows align with best practices and compliance requirements

Process Automation & Simplification

  • Drive automation initiatives across Record-to-Report processes using:
  • AI-driven solutions
  • Advanced Excel functionalities (e.g., Power Query, VBA, macros)
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency

Technical Solution Design

  • Provide input and recommendations for alternative technical solutions to enhance RTR processes
  • Collaborate with IT and Finance stakeholders to evaluate feasibility and impact of proposed solutions

ERP & System Optimization

  • Leverage existing ERP capabilities and integrated technologies to:
  • Streamline workflows
  • Improve data accuracy and reporting speed
  • Identify gaps and propose enhancements to maximize system utilization

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Monitor emerging technologies and best practices in RTR automation
  • Champion initiatives that simplify processes while maintaining compliance and control

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance, IT, and Shared Services teams to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business needs
  • Act as a subject matter expert for RTR technology and process improvements
Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 2 years’ PQE
  • Track record of driving continuous improvement of entity accounting, close and reporting related systems and processes
  • Financial and tax reporting experience
  • SOX knowledge or equivalent (ie. from a business with strong focus on controls)
  • Good knowledge of latest accounting packages and industry developments
  • Ability to have a hands‑on approach but also have experience to delegate as required and supervise the work of others
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with different audiences and influence
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet (Excel), and email (Outlook) at an advanced level
  • Positive outlook with an ability to work in a changing environment, proactively responding to changing requirements
  • Ability to work with the team and independently, self‑starter with ability to bring other, non‑financial, teams along a journey
  • Excellent risk assessment and prioritisation skills
  • Highly analytical and numerate with an attention to detail as well as the ability to see the bigger picture
  • Strong communications skills (verbal, written and presentational) and excellent soft skills to influence or challenge senior stakeholders

Desirable

  • FMCG experience
  • Audit or experience in an accounting function with good knowledge of statutory reporting and controls
  • SAP Finance Module experience
