The council’s Major Projects Service takes a lead role on major infrastructure delivery. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional project officer to play a leading role in reshaping our local economy and forging better futures for thousands of people.
This post is being advertised by the Rail Delivery team. There are currently two exciting rail programmes happening in Kirklees which includes the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a major, multi-billion-pound programme of railway improvements which will bring better journeys to passengers travelling across the Pennines between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York. Around a third of the route runs through Kirklees and has touch points with many Council Services, including Highways, Planning, Property, Waste, Environment and Landscape. The other rail scheme is for the Penistone Line, a £48M improvement scheme currently at Outline Business Case stage with funding secured until 2029.
As Project Officer you will be working with colleagues from within the council, other public and private sector organisations and commissioned consultants, to deliver rail improvements and when required major highway, transportation and active travel schemes from bid development through to delivery.
You will work with a range of stakeholders including senior managers, Councillors, developers and infrastructure providers to coordinate and deliver projects and lead on the design, organising and attending public consultation / exhibitions to seek stakeholder consensus.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong interpersonal, organisational and negotiation skills along with good programme and project management experience.
The role involves partnership working across the Leeds City Region and establishing professional relationships with partner organisations. Hence, applicants should have good communication and networking skills.
