Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Tower Hamlets to assist with the appointment of a Project Manager - Construction Management, on a 9-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £324 Umbrella perDay

Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of building fabric projects including feasibility, surveys, design development, procurement, construction and handover.
  • Work with internal services (Education, Leisure, Corporate Property) to scope and prioritise works.
  • Ensure buildings remain open and operational by coordinating works to minimise disruption to staff, students, and the public.
  • Ensure all projects meet statutory and regulatory requirements including Building Regulations, Fire Safety, CDM, Asbestos Management, and corporate property standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and resolve issues promptly when works do not meet required standards.
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Qualified to P407 Advanced Proficiency qualification in Managing Asbestos
Requirements
  • Professional membership (e.g., MCIOB, MRICS, MICE) or ability to demonstrate equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience delivering construction projects within operational environments (public buildings, educational facilities, leisure centres or commercial assets).
  • Strong background in building fabric works such as roofing, windows, doors, structural repairs, internal refurbishments, and compliance-driven upgrades.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects from inception to completion.
  • Extensive experience preparing specifications, drawings, feasibility studies, and tender documentation.
  • Contract administration experience using relevant forms of contract (JCT, MTC, Schedule of Rates).
  • Knowledge and experience of CDM Regulations, Fire Safety requirements, Building Regulations, and Asbestos management.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate works in live, operational buildings.
