Overview

Project Manager Assistant JM180925 £162.41 - £203.39 per day PAYE depending upon experience Contract Length: 6 months with possible extension Location: Birmingham 37 hours per week Hybrid Working: 3 office days/2 remote Candidates must be local to Birmingham

Our client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of 40–50 minor works projects annually, each valued between £50k–£300k, across the Central Route portfolio. These projects follow a consistent assurance process and focus on delivering work safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to passengers and freight. You must have previous Project Support/Assistant Project Management experience with excellent experience of Excel. If you have worked for the public/government sectors this would be a distinct advantage. This is not a role for an experienced Project Manager.

In this role, you will play a key part in project setup, documentation, stakeholder coordination, and administration, ensuring smooth project delivery from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Management team in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Collate, format, and distribute project data to stakeholders
  • Monitor and report project progress through established systems
  • Maintain and generate project documentation in line with reporting requirements
  • Participate in meetings and activities, including preparing minutes
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is in place before site work begins
  • Assist with document control and SharePoint management
  • Help organise and streamline the Citadel system for project tracking and reporting
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience in project support or administration
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work independently and proactively without close supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Commercial and financial awareness
Desirable Skills
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and document control processes
  • Experience using the Citadel system
  • Ability to interpret and apply project processes and standards
