About The Role

We’re looking for a capable and motivated Project Manager, with strong technical knowledge and problem‑solving ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic engineering environment. We are expanding and setting up an advanced welding development and training facility, where as Project Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of this project, including liaising with our client and providing varied site support, for example installation of specialist equipment and building modifications.

Key responsibilities in this role:

• The successful delivery of the project to agreed schedule, budget and quality.
• Fully managing the project assigned to you including:
  • Understanding project scope fully, including T&Cs
  • Producing a project execution plan
  • Set‑up and maintenance of the project in company PM software
  • Management of, and liaison with clients, allocated resources, sub‑contractors, suppliers and third parties.
  • Maintaining the project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities and problem solving.
  • Approaching sub‑contractors for quotes.
  • Purchasing of materials and consumables in accordance with drawings
  • Completion of document packs on project delivery
  • Progress reporting to key stakeholders
  • Management of change
  • Project risk management
  • Issuing invoices on time and protecting company cash flow
  • Reporting to senior management on status of project
• Maintaining working knowledge of the company QAHSE system and following its requirements
• Promoting and responsibly representing the Group’s stated values in all aspects of your professional life

Skills and Experience

• Experience working as a Project Manager or Project Engineer within an engineering environment.
• Recognised project management qualification or accreditation desirable (e.g. APM, PRINCE2).
• Higher level qualification within an engineering discipline.
• Technical knowledge, with the ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Organisational skills – able to effectively manage time across a range of competing requirements.
• Diligent – delivery of projects is reliant on staff being responsible and ensuring their tasks are carried out properly and on time.
• Communication – able to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels including clients, sub‑contractors and project staff.
• Competency in Microsoft Office – project work includes the extensive use of Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
• Numeracy skills – able to understand invoices, quotes and expenses.

Where will you be working?

We have two main office locations: our head office based at the iconic South Rotunda building on the South bank of the River Clyde, and our impressive welding and fabrication facility at Westway Business Park, Renfrew. You will be based at Westway Business Park, Renfrew. Hybrid working arrangements can be discussed at interview.
