Job summary

A leading consulting firm is seeking a Project Manager for a 6-12 month contract based in Norfolk. You will lead the planning and execution of Oil & Gas projects, managing budgets and client relationships while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates should have a degree in Project Management or related fields and at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or process industries.
  • Strong commercial and contractual management experience in EPC or large capital projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and commercial reporting.

Overview

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Project Manager on a 6-12 month contract based in Norfolk.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Oil & Gas projects in line with scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives.
  • Oversee contract administration, including change management, claims, and commercial negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, governance frameworks, and client requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, acting as the main point of contact.
  • Lead risk management processes, identifying and mitigating commercial, contractual, and operational risks.
  • Prepare and present commercial and project performance reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party partners, ensuring value for money and contractual compliance.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all project activities are conducted in line with HSE requirements.
Requirements
  • Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline (Chartered status - APM, PMI, RICS, or equivalent - desirable).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or process industries.
  • Strong commercial and contractual management experience, ideally within EPC or large capital projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, forecasts, and commercial reporting.
  • Experience with NEC, FIDIC, or similar contract forms.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and cost control systems (e.g., Primavera, SAP, MS Project).
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Commercial acumen and financial awareness.
  • Leadership and team management capability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Results-driven, with a focus on safety and quality.
