About JJ Rhatigan & Company

JJ Rhatigan & Company is a Tier 1 main building contractor with over 70 years’ experience delivering high-quality, sustainable projects across Ireland and the UK. We operate across residential, commercial, education, and healthcare sectors, each built with a commitment to safety, innovation, and excellence. In the UK, we’re delivering landmark developments such as:

  • The Yardhouse Project: A transformative mixed‑use development in London, combining residential apartments and co‑living spaces within an 18‑storey tower. It also includes a new office for Women’s Pioneer Housing and enhanced public spaces.
  • Twyford Abbey Development: An £84 million scheme in Ealing delivering 296 new homes (50% affordable), alongside the restoration of the Grade II‑listed walled garden and the historic Twyford Abbey building.
The Role

As a Project Manager, you’ll take full ownership of delivering a construction project from start to completion, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Quality, Budget, and Programme targets. You’ll lead your project team, coordinate with key departments, and act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

This role demands strong leadership, planning, and technical expertise, along with the ability to build strong working relationships and drive project delivery to the highest standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of the project from pre‑start to handover, ensuring key milestones and quality benchmarks are achieved.

  • Oversee project planning, programming, Health & Safety, design coordination, procurement, construction logistics, and M&E integration.

  • Schedule and monitor project progress using Asta Powerproject or MS Project.

  • Identify risks early, implement mitigations, and maintain accurate programme updates and reports.

  • Manage design deliverables, technical submissions, and approvals in line with the target programme.

  • Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and CDM 2015, including Gateway 2 & 3 requirements, Change Control, and Golden Thread documentation.

  • Chair weekly site and quality meetings, ensuring all actions are captured and closed.

  • Promote a positive health, safety, and environmental culture, conducting regular reviews and implementing corrective actions where needed.

  • Lead and support your project team through effective communication, mentoring, and performance management.

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Drive high standards of quality on site, ensuring inspection and test plans (ITPs) are followed and QA audits consistently exceed 95%.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within a main contractor environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK construction standards, Building Safety Act 2022, and CDM 2015 requirements.
  • Proficient in project planning software (Asta Powerproject / MS Project) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
  • Strong technical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Valid CSCS card preferred.
