A leading company in the renewable energy sector is seeking an Inspection Project Engineer to oversee statutory inspection projects across offshore wind sites in the UK and Europe. The role involves managing project teams, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering solutions. Ideal candidates will have vocational qualifications in engineering and strong organizational skills, with a background in the offshore wind industry preferred.
The Inspection Project Engineer is responsible for the safe and effective implementation of internal policies and procedures at the project management level across various offshore wind projects, primarily within the UK and Europe. This role supports the planning, mobilisation, execution, and demobilisation of statutory inspection projects, ensuring team performance aligns with industry, project, and organisational standards.
The role involves overseeing small teams, managing project assets and documentation, and contributing to the development and continuous improvement of engineering solutions and procedural frameworks. While primarily onshore-based, the position may require regular travel to offshore sites, installations, and vessels.
General
Ensure teams are adequately equipped for statutory inspection activities.
Manage project tooling, equipment certification, and asset tracking systems.
Oversee consumables such as inspection tags and lubricants, ensuring compliance with CoSHH and MSDS requirements.
Conduct on-site QHSE audits in collaboration with the QHSE team.
Mentor technicians and provide weekly progress updates.
Implement safe systems of work and ensure project delivery aligns with QHSE plans.
Contribute to the creation of Written Schemes of Examination (WSEs).
Leadership
Support workforce management and project-level reporting.
Assist in tooling logistics and engineering solution delivery.
Handle general purchasing in line with internal procedures.
Manage project documentation and reporting systems.
Health & Safety
Promote a proactive safety culture and lead by example.
Develop and enforce safe systems of work.
Ensure team competence and challenge unsafe practices.
Chair toolbox talks and participate in safety reporting and improvement initiatives.
Adhere to and promote compliance with site rules and safety procedures.
Quality Control
Review project reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Conduct annual document reviews and contribute to quality system improvements.
Perform pre- and post-project equipment inspections and root cause analysis.
Follow internal quality procedures.
Environmental
Comply with internal waste management procedures.
Role Requirements
Stay informed on regulatory and procedural updates relevant to the role.
Attend meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions as required.
Ensure the security of sensitive data and company property.
Support departmental initiatives and contribute to annual objectives.
Proficiency in MS Office and reporting software.
Vocational qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, HND) in an engineering discipline.
Knowledge of lifting equipment, PSSR, and PUWER regulations.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Understanding of calibration and CoSHH regulations.
Full UK driving licence.
LEEA General module.
Background in maintenance and troubleshooting.
Experience with crane and wire rope inspections.
Offshore wind industry experience (5+ years preferred).
IOSH Managing Safely certification.
Relevant crane/service lift training or equivalent experience.
