A major infrastructure solutions company in the UK is seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager for a Carbon Capture project based in Teesside. The role involves establishing project controls, monitoring systems, and ensuring full reporting compliance. Ideal candidates should have relevant project lifecycle experience and strong analytical capabilities, with high-level numeracy skills. This position requires being on-site a minimum of 3 days a week.

Qualifications

Overview

Located in Teesside, we are looking for an experienced Project Controls Manager to support development and delivery of this exciting and challenging project, which will deliver one of the first industrial scale Carbon Capture and Underground Storage Projects in the UK, as a part of the Governments Net Zero Strategy. The role is based in Teesside with a requirement to be on site as a minimum 3 days a week.

As the Project Controls Manager you will be responsible for establishing the programme, monitoring, control and reporting systems to comply with the Contract, and to facilitate the successful delivery of a Major Project. You will use your knowledge and experience to support the most efficient and effective delivery of the project.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring all weekly & monthly reports are prepared, validated and submitted to suit both internal and external reporting requirements.
• Ensure that project controls processes are consistently applied across the project and ensuring overall integration of performance information.
• Manage governance to ensure robust cost and schedule performance.
• Responsible for undertaking Earned value Analysis.
• Establish and agree Key Performance Indicators and how these will be monitored.
• Support and advise on the definition of Project Controls, procedures and standards.
• Support the development of requirements for specific resource-loaded schedules.
• Work closely with the Project Manager and Commercial Manager to maximise the potential of the project.
• Coach/support others who will need to feed into Project Reporting.
• Identify and implement best practices, procedure and tools and systems for project controls.
• Manage the selection and / or development of project controls tools.
• Advising on recommended reactions to risks and opportunities to facilitate effective decision making.
• Contribute to the preparation and delivery of training.
• Responsible for setting the requirements for facilities Contractor Project Controls and auditing their procedures as required.
• Ensure the reasons for, and the factors influencing each change to the project\'s baseline plan, plus the implications of such changes, are understood and communicated to the wider project team.
• Challenging schedule and cost variances against the baseline plan
• Support the integration of 3rd party schedules and data into the overall project plan and delivery.
• Regular interfacing and integration with the project controls team to maintain an aligned financial position with the Project Plan

Qualifications

• Minimum of HNC/HND ideally in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience
• Breadth of experience across whole project lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning processes).
• Effective communication within team and with stakeholders.
• An experienced user of the relevant Programme tools and techniques.
• High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills.
• The ability to reconcile cost information as it applies to the programme of work.
• Experience in the implementation of Earned Value Management based Project Control systems, in accordance with relevant national standards.
• Proficient in the interpretation of cost, estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools.
• Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment.
