We are gearing up for AMP 8, a challenging period to deliver a programme larger than ever. We are driving change, empowering growth and development for our workforce, and providing opportunities for career progression.

We are looking to build on our teams to develop an optimal programme portfolio for delivery. We are seeking a talented Project Commercial Manager to help us achieve our targets with industry-leading commercial and cost management processes and practices.

As we move into this period for the water industry, it is essential that our commercial and cost management remains executive-grade to not only deliver but outperform against objectives and customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme from inception to close-out, reporting to an Integrated Projects Leader (IPL).
  • Ensure maximum efficiencies and full compliance with Alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures; provide commercial challenge to the IPL and team on all project matters.
  • Management of Commercials: provide robust estimates aligned to scope; support the commercial and procurement strategies with Senior Buyers; ensure tenders reflect the agreed scope and are managed in accordance with the contract.
  • Robust Cost Management: provide accurate live forecasting aligned to the project programme; monitor actual costs against baseline estimates and challenge variances; report on cost performance and identify root causes and resolutions.
  • Contract Management: administer the Alliance contract; issue early warnings timely; maintain records for audits and cost assurance; ensure final accounts are prepared accurately and on time.
  • Project and Programme Risk: implement mitigation plans, manage opportunities, monitor identified efficiencies, and report variances to the IPL.
  • Team Leadership: lead and manage a small team; mentor and develop team members.
Qualifications and Skills

To be considered, ideally you will:

  • Be educated to degree level and hold RICS, CIOB, or CICES certification.
  • Have demonstrable experience in managing complex projects up to multi-million pound scale.
  • Have a robust, proactive approach to change, challenge decisions when needed, and be comfortable working with NEC contracts.
  • Have strong negotiating, estimating and stakeholder management skills.

With a high level of integrity and fairness, act as the commercial conscience of the IPL, champion collaboration and open communication, and lead with a strong commercial focus. Work under pressure with a forward-thinking mindset and provide supportive, empathetic leadership to your team and stakeholders.
