We are seeking a commercially minded Project Accountant to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial success of our most significant projects and acquisitions. Reporting to the Director of Project Finance, this role sits at the heart of strategic decision-making, providing robust financial insight across project forecasting, M&A viability, and post‑acquisition performance.

As the business continues to scale, you will work closely with Transformation, Integration and Executive Leadership teams, ensuring financial rigour, strong governance and confidence in WIP valuation. This is a high‑impact role for a qualified accountant who thrives in a fast‑paced, change‑driven environment and enjoys influencing outcomes at senior level.

Main Responsibilities

Financial Forecasting, Viability & Acquisition Modelling

  • Build robust financial models to evaluate the viability, returns and risks of new projects and acquisition targets prior to approval.
  • Prepare scenario modelling (base, best, and worst case) and sensitivity analysis, including acquisition specific assumptions.
  • Support business case and investment committee submissions with evidence‑led financial insight and recommendations.
  • Assess long term financial impacts of projects and acquisitions to ensure alignment with Group strategy, capacity and capital constraints.
  • Provide financial analysis to support project and acquisition prioritisation and investment decisions.

Project & Acquisition Financial Management

  • Lead the financial tracking and reporting of assigned projects and acquisitions, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and control.
  • Maintain project and acquisition budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor performance against plan, highlighting variances, risks, opportunities, and emerging issues.
  • Track, validate, and report on post‑acquisition synergies in close collaboration with the Integration team, ensuring benefits realisation is clearly understood and governed.
  • Ensure financial processes and controls are adhered to throughout the project and acquisition lifecycle.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to senior stakeholders.

Internal WIP Audits

  • Conduct internal WIP audits, ensuring accuracy, compliance and confidence in WIP valuation as the business scales.
  • Ensure financial processes and controls are adhered to.

Stakeholder Support

  • Act as the financial partner to Project Managers, Integration leads, and senior stakeholders.
  • Attend project, integration and investment meetings, providing expert financial input and challenge where appropriate.
  • Provide insightful WIP financial analysis and reporting to senior stakeholders.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong project accounting and financial analysis background.
  • Proven experience in financial forecasting, modelling and assessing project viability.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to present financial information to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel and strong financial modelling skills.
  • Ability to handle and analyse large data sets
  • Highly organised, analytical and detail driven.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working in transformation or change programmes.
  • Experience in professional services, legal, insurance or similar environments.
