Job description

Shift Times: Monday- Friday 37.5 Hours

Pay Rate: £12.21ph rising to £12.65 after 12 weeks on site

Location: Poole, BH17 0RZ

Job Purpose / Overview

We are seeking an experienced Production Operative to join our established team manufacturing high-quality gas detection products. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of production practices and procedures, be highly quality-focused, and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assemble gas detection products from multiple subassemblies using mechanical assembly techniques and/or soldering of component parts.
  • Test and calibrate subassemblies on the production line to ensure they meet product specifications and tolerance requirements.
  • Record process yields to support quality monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and repair units that fail tests or fall outside of tolerance levels.
  • Carry out daily checks on assembly processes, ensuring all process metrics are followed.
  • Work safely and proactively contribute to a strong safety culture through safety observations.
  • Actively participate in Honeywell Operating System (HOS), 5S housekeeping, Kaizen continuous improvements, and SQDCI metrics.
  • Perform potting/encapsulation operations as a primary responsibility.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Apprenticeship or formal training in a relevant technical/production field may be required.
  • Previous experience in a similar production or assembly environment, with proven capability in the field.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Good understanding of common production concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly due to working with Excel 1.0 and Excel 2.0.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and established guidelines.
  • Team-oriented, reliable, and able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Works under immediate supervision and reports to a supervisor or manager.
Special Considerations
  • Lifting generally up to 30 lbs., without significant repetition.
  • Moderate exposure to machinery and general production-related risks.
  • Operation of powered industrial trucks may be required, depending on production needs.
  • Must be able to fit well into an established, experienced production team.
