Job summary

A leading electronics company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Production Test Technician to support testing of electronic products. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electronics and experience with electronic testing methods. Responsibilities include following test plans, improving test accuracy, and fault-finding. The role demands problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. Training is provided for specific testing methods. Competitive salary between £28k – £31k is offered.

Qualifications

  • Some experience in electronic testing (manufacturing or R&D preferred).
  • Good understanding of electronic test methods and equipment.
  • Ability to test and fault-find to component level.
  • Awareness of standards such as ISO 9001 and IPC.
  • Understanding of HV, RF, or microwave testing is desirable (training provided).

Production Test Technician
Location: Colchester
Salary: – £28k – £31k

We are looking for a Test Technician to support the testing, verification, and validation of electronic products as part of a production test team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Follow established electronic test plans and procedures.
  • Work with test systems, including both hardware and software.
  • Improve the accuracy and reliability of test results through continuous improvement.
  • Build a solid understanding of the company’s products and systems.
  • Produce clear fault reports to support ongoing product improvements.
  • Contribute to ATE test program development for new products.
  • Fault‑find down to component level.
  • Carry out clean, accurate repairs on electronic assemblies.
  • Use new test methods, fixtures, and cables as required.
What You’ll Need
  • Education: HNC, BTEC Level 3, or similar qualification in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Some experience in electronic testing (manufacturing or R&D preferred).
    • Good understanding of electronic test methods and equipment.
    • Ability to test and fault‑find to component level.
    • Awareness of standards such as ISO 9001 and IPC.
    • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Able to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment.
    • Understanding of HV, RF, or microwave testing is desirable (training provided).
    • Good communication skills and strong organisational habits.
