Job Title: Production/ Planning Manager

Location: Ponteland, Northumberland
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production & Planning professional with a background in electrical panel wiring or electrical unit assembly. You will be responsible for managing and optimising the production schedule, ensuring timely delivery of customer orders, and driving operational efficiency across the manufacturing floor.

You will lead a team of approximately 30 production operatives and panel wirers, fostering a culture of performance, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and deliver the production plan to achieve On Time In Full (OTIF) targets.
• Ensure all manufacturing processes run efficiently, safely, and to agreed KPIs.
• Liaise with logistics and other departments to ensure seamless delivery performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process optimisation.
• Conduct daily production meetings and follow up on actions to closure.
• Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all Health & Safety standards are met and maintained.
• Lead, mentor, and develop production staff through regular one-to-one reviews.
• Manage performance and disciplinary issues in line with HR processes.
• Oversee training to ensure the team has the right skills and tools to deliver effectively.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Minimum 5 years experience in a Production or Planning Management role.
• Proven experience managing production, warehousing, and assembly operations ideally in the electrical manufacturing sector.
• Strong understanding of electrical panel wiring.
• Skilled in analysing production data to drive improvements.
• Demonstrated success in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
• Excellent leadership, motivational, and communication abilities.
• Customer-focused, innovative mindset with a commitment to quality.
• Full UK driving licence required.
