Production Planner - Laser Cutting Division

Are you looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Team asProduction Planner.

Onesite (Laser) Ltd are one of the leading laser cutters in the UK. Based in Doncaster we offer the highest level of quality and service to our customers and are hoping to find someone to join our team who will deliver to the same level.

As Production Planner you are responsible for the planning, scheduling, and coordinating of our laser, fold, machining, and outsourced operations to ensure on-time delivery whilst achieving optimal machine utilisation and efficient material and product flow. This role works closely with Sales, CAD, Works, and Purchasing teams to balance customer demand and capacity within a fast-paced laser cutting environment.

Key responsibilities include:
Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Collaborating with the CAD & Purchasing Manager you will create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules for the laser, press and machine shop work centres.
  • Plan jobs based on customer due dates, material availability, machine capacity, and labour constraints.
  • Sequence works orders to maximise laser and downstream value added operations uptime and minimise changeovers and downtime.
  • Adjust schedules in response to customer service challenges, machine issues, or material delays.
Material & Nesting Coordination
  • Coordinate with purchasing and inventory to ensure required sheet materials are available on time.
  • Work with the CAD team to optimise material usage and reduce scrap.
  • Track material consumption and forecast future material needs.
Order Management
  • Contract review customer orders, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate production planning.
  • Control works orders to the shop floor giving clear priority and instruction.
  • Monitor job progress and communicate status to internal stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Communicate daily with production management, staff and CAD programmers.
  • Coordinate with the sales team and customers regarding lead times, capacity and delivery commitments.
  • Support production and quality teams when issues arise that impact production flow.
Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement
  • Track KPIs such as on-time delivery, machine efficiency, internal recut volumes, and schedule adherence.
  • Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
