Job description

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation. Our client, a leading global FMCG company with brands such as Persil, Surf, Comfort, Domestos & Tressemme, is looking for a CB3 5crew Machine Operator to work in their facility in Port Sunlight. This is a Temporary position with an immediate start. The pay rate is £20.28 per hour on a 37.5 hour week, rising to £22.53 per hour following successful completion of the training journey.

Applicants must be available to work shifts that may fall Monday to Sunday following a 5-crew shift pattern: 2 x 12-hour days, 2 x 12-hour nights, then 6 days off; 2 x 12-hour days, 2 x 12-hour nights, then 4 days off (July-September). Bank holidays and annual leave are built into the shift pattern, which includes an 18 day paid break. During the "off" periods there are requirements to be on call if absence cover is required.

There is an expectation to maintain high safety, quality and hygiene standards and to comply with site regulations.

Reporting to the Run to Standards Leader, the successful applicant will take a pro-active approach to problem solving and fault finding on a high-speed production line to improve operational efficiency and drive area performance. They will analyse technical/mechanical problems, research, suggest, communicate, and implement improvement ideas with a positive attitude to change.

The role requires good communication skills, the ability to work effectively within a team, and the capability to contribute to achieving and exceeding factory and team targets.

Responsibilities
  • Checking objects, work, and procedures.
  • Checking completed work against current site quality standards.
  • Checking adherence to schedules and understanding the benefits of achieving site KPIs.
  • Creating a positive team spirit.
  • Analysing and interpreting problems in the physical process or machinery; breaking down procedures into logical steps.
  • Summarising numerical and verbal information; reading plans/diagrams.
  • Entering details into systems and determining job requirements.
  • Working with the Run to Standards Leader to improve efficiency and area performance.
  • On-call during off periods to cover absence where required.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Experience within a Production or Manufacturing environment or an educational background with Manufacturing or Engineering focus.
  • Fault finding and an eye for detail.
  • Previous qualifications and experience within a mechanical or technical environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • FLT license is desirable.
  • A good standard of IT literacy is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of SAP systems is beneficial.
