Job description

About Us

Over the last 18 years, we’ve helped over a million satisfied customers move and manage their money. Our award-winning product portfolio empowers our customers to make cost-effective, multi-currency payments through a wide range of products—from travel money and international transfers to currency hedging and expense management.

In May 2025, Equals Money and Railsr officially combined, bringing together two fintech pioneers to form a stronger, more dynamic financial services platform. The merger allows us to deliver cutting-edge embedded finance, payments, and card issuing infrastructure to a broader set of customers globally.

Together, we’re building the next generation of financial services—powered by advanced payments technology, regulated infrastructure, and personal expert service.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Manager to lead the evolution of our card processing infrastructure—a core component of the Equals Money Railsr platform. In this role, you’ll drive the product vision, roadmap, and execution for card lifecycle management, from authorisation and transaction routing to settlement, reconciliation, and scheme compliance.

You’ll work closely with card networks (e.g., Visa, Mastercard), processing partners (e.g., Marqeta), and internal engineering teams to build a resilient, scalable card stack that enables BIN sponsorship, issuing, and value-added card features across the UK, US and EU. This role demands a strong understanding of scheme rules, card technologies, and the commercial aspects of card processing systems. You'll play a key role in evolving our card technology stack and ensuring we remain compliant, innovative, and competitive in the global payments space.

This role sits in the card domain led by the Head of Cards Products and you will work alongside another Product Manager, who will be responsible for our cards platform experience. Together, you will closely build out a significant revenue line for the group.

Responsibilities

  • Product Ownership: Lead the product strategy for our card processing capabilities across authorisation, clearing, settlement, ledger posting, reconciliation, and dispute resolution.
  • Scheme Integration: Interpret and implement changes from Visa and Mastercard operating regulations and technical bulletins. Ensure timely compliance and alignment to scheme mandates.
  • Processing Infrastructure: Design and evolve our transaction processing stack, including primary and secondary message handling, stand-in processing, dual-message flows, and fallbacks.
  • Partner Collaboration: Work closely with card processors, scheme representatives, and bureau partners to drive delivery, optimise latency, and improve approval ratios.
  • API Design: Collaborate with engineering teams to build scalable and secure APIs for issuing, cardholder services, and back-office functions (e.g. reporting, limits, tokenisation).
  • Operational Excellence: Define and monitor KPIs such as transaction success rate, chargeback ratios, scheme fee recovery, and system uptime.
  • Compliance & Risk: Partner with legal, risk, and compliance to ensure full alignment with PCI DSS, 3DS, SCA, AML/KYC, and other relevant regulations.
  • Strategic Input: Identify innovation opportunities in card technology (e.g., tokenisation, softPOS, network tokenisation, real-time funding) and incorporate them into the roadmap.
  • GTM Enablement: Support go-to-market, operational readiness, and partner enablement for all card product enhancements.

About you

  • Strong technical aptitude—able to work closely with engineering to define APIs, system behaviour, and integration logic.
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional initiatives and delivering high-availability financial products at scale.
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to translate complex technical requirements into commercial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to track key performance metrics and drive data-informed product decisions.
