Job description
Overview

Content & Documentation Specialist

Location: London (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office – Tue, Thu, Fri)

Company: Legal AI / Contract Automation

Company Overview

We are a fast-growing legal AI company specialising in contract automation, negotiation, and contract lifecycle management. We work with law firms and in-house legal teams globally, using proprietary AI to transform how contracts are reviewed, negotiated, and managed. The company has doubled from ~200 to ~400 people in the last year and continues to scale rapidly across product, engineering, and commercial teams. Product and commercial are primarily based in central London with engineering based in Cambridge.

Role Overview

We are creating a Content & Documentation Specialist role within the product organisation to own and professionalise all product-related content and internal documentation. Today, documentation is a shared, ad-hoc responsibility across several people in product and engineering. With rapid growth and an expanding product surface area, we need someone who will:

  • Become a deep product expert
  • Translate complex AI‑driven legal workflows into clear, structured documentation
  • Enable internal teams and customers to understand, adopt, and get value from new features

This role sits close to Product, not Marketing and is focused on enablement and product understanding. It’s an exciting role that offers a rare mix of impact, ownership, and growth, turning complex, AI‑driven legal products into clear, usable knowledge that empowers teams and users.

Key Responsibilities
Product & Internal Documentation
  • Own creation, maintenance, and quality of internal product documentation, “How-to” guides and best-practice playbooks, as well as detailed feature notes and usage guidelines
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Product Associates, and Engineers to deeply understand new features being built, how customers use the product day-to-day, and the broader product roadmap and direction
Enablement Content
  • Produce demo scripts, demo videos, and walkthroughs to help Product specialists, Sales and customer-facing teams as well as new joiners across the business
  • Translate technical feature descriptions into clear, user-oriented explanations tailored to lawyers and legal teams
Release Notes & Change Communication
  • Own release notes and product update summaries, explaining what changed and why it matters, clearly articulating impact on workflows and value for users
  • Coordinate with Product, Engineering, and Customer teams to ensure changes are well understood internally
Knowledge Management & Structure
  • Bring structure and consistency to how product knowledge is captured and shared by defining and improving templates, standards, and taxonomies for documentation
  • Help ensure documentation is easy to find and kept up to date as the product evolves
Skills & Experience
  • Strong academic background; degree in Law, English, or a related humanities field is particularly relevant (other degrees with strong analytical and writing ability are included)
  • Experience in a content, documentation, knowledge management, product enablement, or technical writing role, ideally in SaaS / B2B technology, working in complex or technical domains (legal, AI, data, enterprise software)
  • Strong track record of producing structured, user-friendly documentation working with product and engineering teams and explaining complex products to non-technical audiences
  • Experience in legal tech or within a law firm/legal function is a strong plus, but not mandatory
  • Excellent written communication: clear, concise, and precise with the ability to adapt tone for internal vs. customer-facing material
  • Strong information structuring skills; ability to break down complicated workflows into logical steps and use headings, hierarchies, and formatting to make content skimmable and usable
  • High product curiosity and willingness to invest time understanding the domain; curious about legal workflows and AI; ask good questions about user workflows and use cases
  • Ability to work with product specifications, wireframes, prototypes, feedback from product specialists, sales, and customers
  • Comfortable with tools used for documentation / knowledge base management, basic video demo creation (or willingness to learn)
  • Detail-oriented and thorough, but pragmatic—understands the need to move quickly in a scale-up
  • Comfortable in an environment that is still building structure; everything is still not defined or documented
  • Proactive and self-starting; will chase information, book conversations, and clarify ambiguity rather than waiting for perfect inputs
  • Collaborative—enjoys working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams
Why This Role Is Interesting
  • Opportunity to build and own the documentation and product content function from a relatively early stage with direct impact on how quickly new joiners ramp up, how effectively internal teams sell and support the product, and how well customers understand and adopt new features
  • Chance to become a go-to product expert in one of the leading companies in legal AI, working closely with top-tier product and engineering talent
