Job summary

A leader in Nuclear Generation is seeking a Procurement Engineer to manage spare parts requirements at their Torness site. The ideal candidate will have an HNC in engineering, relevant procurement experience, and a strong knowledge of technical standards. Responsibilities include specifying spares, developing procurement specifications, and conducting Quality Assurance inspections. This role offers a pay rate of £23.96 - £28.29 per hour.

Hours of work: 37 hours per week, 5 days (On site)

Our client, a leader in Nuclear Generation requires a Procurement Engineer at their site in Torness. You will bring sound engineering knowledge and judgement to play a key role in managing the station's spare parts requirements, ensuring fit-for-purpose procurement of components, and maintaining compliance with engineering and quality assurance standards.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of HNC in an engineering discipline, ideally with Electrical or Control & Instrumentation or Mechanical bias (though broader engineering knowledge will also be considered).
  • Experience within a similar technical position and/or Procurement.
  • Experience in engineering specification and component evaluation.
  • Strong working knowledge of technical and quality assurance standards related to the procurement of spare parts.
Role responsibilities
  • Specifying and evaluating nuclear power station spares against original design intent.
  • Supporting the upkeep and integrity of the plant Spares Catalogue.
  • Developing procurement specifications in collaboration with Technical Specialists and Purchasers.
  • Maintaining compliance with all standards and procedures applicable to plant spares procurement.
  • Completing Item Equivalency Assessments to support changes in component selection.
  • Assisting with technical investigations, including parts sourcing and resolving obsolescence issues.
  • Conducting Quality Assurance (QA) reviews prior to purchasing QA1/2 spares, including reviewing and developing Quality Plans.
  • Performing Quality Control (QC) inspections on key goods being supplied.
  • Advising Purchasing and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth operation of Supply Chain processes.
