Procurement Apprentice - Level 3

Location: Head Office based Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

Contract: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Salary: Apprenticeship rate (dependent on age/experience)

Joseph Gallagher Limited is a leading civil engineering and construction business delivering complex projects across the UK and internationally. As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Procurement Apprentice to join our Commercial & Procurement team.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a career in procurement while working towards a Level 3 Procurement and Supply Assistant Apprenticeship.

About the Apprenticeship

You will be enrolled on the Level 3 Procurement and Supply Assistant Apprenticeship, a nationally recognised qualification aligned with the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS). The programme develops core skills in purchasing, supplier management, contract support, and ethical procurement.

About the Role

As a Procurement Apprentice, you will support the procurement function in sourcing materials, plant, services, and subcontractors essential to delivering civil engineering projects. You'll work closely with commercial teams, site managers, and suppliers, gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with raising purchase orders and maintaining procurement records
  • Supporting supplier set‑up, onboarding, and compliance checks
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery, and availability
  • Supporting cost control and budget tracking
  • Maintaining supplier and contract documentation
  • Assisting with procurement reporting and audits
  • Supporting ethical, sustainable, and compliant procurement practices
  • Working closely with commercial, finance, and site teams
About You

We're looking for someone interested in commercial, procurement, or supply chain careers, with a strong willingness to learn.

You will ideally have:
  • An interest in procurement, buying, or supply chain management
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and confidence working with suppliers
  • A professional and reliable approach
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (or willingness to work towards them)

No prior procurement experience is required - just the right attitude and commitment.
