Process Technician

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Full-time, shift-based role (on a rotating shift pattern)

Location: Allington EFW, Kent, ME16 0LE

Then look no further… As a Process Technician at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Allington Energy Recovery Facility. Reporting to the Operations Shift Manager, you will carry out plant operational activities in line with FCC procedures, ensuring safety, compliance, and reliability. This is a full-time role, working a rotating shift pattern.

What will you be doing?
  • Operating the plant in a safe, compliant and efficient manner on a rotating shift basis.
  • Monitoring and operating systems including waste handling, boiler and furnace, steam turbine generator, ash handling, water treatment, conveyors and filter systems.
  • Using and interrogating complex Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or SCADA systems.
  • Carrying out process and equipment fault diagnosis and rectification.
  • Completing operational logs and handing over shifts accurately.
  • Performing routine plant testing and ensuring safe shutdown of the facility when required.
  • Supporting operational improvements, workplace investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Acting as a Competent and Authorised Person for plant isolations in accordance with FCC Safety Rules.
  • Supporting site health, safety and environmental performance, including safety inspections and emergency response duties.
What are we looking for?
  • A broad technical background in plant operations or maintenance.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or SCADA systems.
  • Practical experience with large boilers, rotating equipment, or similar process plant.
  • Knowledge of operational procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Ability to carry out front-line maintenance.
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a technical or science subject preferred, though relevant experience will also be considered.
  • IOSH Managing Safely training (or willingness to complete).
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, CMMS systems etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork and the ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and adapt to changing priorities.
