Overview

Process Engineer — Sheffield | Manufacturing | Permanent

Salary £30,000 - £45,000 depending on experience

This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys improving how things are made, solving problems on the shop floor, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver smarter, more efficient processes.

The Role

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer will support the identification and implementation of manufacturing and quality improvements. The role combines hands-on engineering work with investigative studies, data-driven decision making and structured project delivery.

You'll be involved in improving existing processes, supporting the introduction of new equipment or methods, and ensuring changes are implemented safely, effectively and in line with the company's quality systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the validation and improvement of new and existing manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Carrying out investigative studies and using data to drive process and quality improvements
  • Applying lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles where appropriate
  • Producing clear technical reports, work instructions and supporting documentation for production teams
  • Working within the company's Quality Management System and change control processes
  • Identifying opportunities for new technologies, machinery, materials or methods
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, quality, production, purchasing and NPD teams
  • Supporting or leading engineering projects, including milestones, stakeholder communication and delivery tracking
  • Assisting with business cases, specification and commissioning of capital equipment
  • Monitoring manufacturing performance and analysing data to support improvement activity
  • Communicating process changes clearly and effectively across the business
About You

We're keen to speak with engineers from a variety of manufacturing backgrounds. You may already have experience in a similar role or be looking to take the next step in your engineering career.

Helpful experience and attributes include:

  • A qualification such as a Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering (or similar)
  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • An interest in process improvement, lean manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques
  • Some exposure to project-based engineering work
  • Understanding of CAD / CAM systems
  • Experience analysing manufacturing data (for example using tools such as Minitab)
  • A methodical, logical approach with strong attention to detail
  • Confidence working autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to influence and gain buy-in from others
