The job holder will undertake the full range of work with people on probation before and after sentence, including assessment, sentence implementation, offender management and producing reports. The holder will provide case management support, liaise with courts and partner agencies, supervise risk, and manage community sentences to protect victims and the public.
Responsibilities
- Carry out offender management tasks with low or medium risk offenders and support high risk cases.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Risk Management plan and report significant changes or non‑compliance.
- Use computer–based systems to produce, update and maintain records and reports within agreed deadlines.
- Ensure effective referrals to services and communicate with staff, interventions, service providers and external agencies.
- Undertake prison, home or alternate location visits as required.
- Complete court reports and manage breaches.
- Provide cover within teams as required.
- Deliver and co‑lead accredited programmes commensurate with grade.
- Conduct mandatory alcohol and drug tests and follow prescribed medication procedures.
- Carry out safeguarding children duties in accordance with statutory responsibilities.
- Consistently model pro‑social behaviour and challenge anti‑social attitudes.
- Work within the aims and values of PS and HMPPS.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience of helping and/or supporting people with social or personal difficulties.
- Experience in planning and coordinating work and motivating change of behaviour.
- Understanding of offending factors such as substance misuse, accommodation issues.
- Commitment to equal opportunities and diversity good practice.
- Understanding of case management principles and risk management/assessment.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation in the workplace and the work of the Criminal Justice System.
- Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths.

Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working arrangements where business needs allow; role can be based in office, court or prison locations.
- Maximum 60‑minute commute expected for new entrants.
