Job description

Priory Hospital Hayes Grove is looking to recruit a Visiting Consultant Psychiatrist to join the CAMHS team. This role is self-employed. Priory Hospital Hayes Grove is one of the UK’s leading mental health and addiction rehab hospitals. We provide world‑class residential treatment for a range of mental health conditions, including treatment for depression, as well as drug and alcohol addiction treatment. We also provide outpatient treatment for young people, as well as private CAMHS assessment options and private autism assessments for adults.

What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients’ wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Visiting Consultant, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Take clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
  • Fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • Supervise the process of referral and admission, including contributing to pre‑admission assessments of young people with other team members.
  • Offer a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.

What you’ll bring to the role

You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team on assessment, formulation and management plans. You’ll hold and maintain GMC registration, including the relevant Specialist Register. You’ll have a CCST, CCT, or equivalent in your psychiatry specialty and experience working in inpatient settings with people facing significant mental health challenges.
