Overview

Principle Civil Engineer – Manchester | Salary: £55,000 - £65,000. We’re working with a highly respected, employee-owned engineering consultancy with a long-standing reputation for delivering award-winning, sustainable design solutions across the UK. With over 60 years of experience, their portfolio spans sectors such as conservation and heritage, healthcare, education, data centres, housing regeneration, and high-end residential developments. As part of their strategic growth in Wales, they are seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to help lead the delivery of exciting and high-impact projects across the region.

The role is a senior position focused on leading the design and delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring the team is coordinated, resources are optimally planned, and projects are delivered to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Developing and managing design delivery programmes.
  • Leading communication and collaboration across project teams.
  • Engaging with local authorities and stakeholders, particularly around drainage and SuDS.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians.
  • Delivering sustainable and technically sound civil design solutions.
About You

We’re looking for a confident and collaborative civil engineer with a passion for leadership and high-quality design. You’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience in SuDS, Flood Risk Assessments, and working with Local Drainage Authorities.
  • Familiarity with SAB (Sustainable Drainage Approval Body) processes and experience designing SuDS in Wales.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D for drainage network design.
  • Strong project leadership, team coordination, and budget management skills.
  • A positive, conscientious approach and a genuine pride in your work.
  • You’ll ideally be Chartered (or actively working towards Chartership) with a recognised professional institution.
