Overview

This is a very rare opportunity to have an unusually high level of influence in the shaping of a very complex SaaS product in the Hedge Fund industry. We are seeking a Python Expert / Principal Python Engineer for a company growing fast but organically and sustainably. People who join now are well placed for future growth. With offices London and New York, this award-winning, fast growing fintech company is revolutionising the Hedge Fund industry. They solve complicated problems in this highly complex domain, using modern product development practices executed by some of the best engineers in the industry, with high levels of innovation. Hedge Fund / Private Equity (or even finance experience) is NOT a pre-requisite (we’re happy for you to learn on the job) but we do need someone who is smart and keen to learn about the industry. Acting as number two to the CTO you’ll be working closely with the C-Suite, who actively embrace feedback and will give you lots of freedom / autonomy. You will have real influence over the tech direction.

• PostgreSQL (though we prefer to use S3 and / or DynamoDB when we can)

What you\'ll do

Splitting your time between hands-on coding and leading the team, you’ll provide mentorship and leadership, particularly to Senior Engineers, and give guidance on system and data architecture, helping to shape the future of the platform. You\'ll influence technical direction, facilitate discussions, and occasionally run training sessions, helping to raise the overall standard of the team.

What you\'ll bring to the table

• A track record of building maintainable, scalable services and systems
• Significant experience (10 years plus) in Software Engineering with very strong Python skills. You are a Python expert
• A natural aptitude for mentoring, for leadership and for nurturing the careers of those working with you (Associate, Mid-Level and Senior Enigneers)
