Principal Lawyer - Commercial and Procurement

Sellick Partnership are delighted to be working with a reputable and forward‑thinking public sector organisation based in Yorkshire to recruit a Principal Lawyer (Commercial and Procurement) to lead a small team.

Salary: £56,000 – £65,000 per annum. Permanent. Location: Yorkshire. Work pattern: Hybrid.

We are seeking a proactive team leader to manage the Commercial and Procurement function and deliver excellent legal advice in relation to commercial contracts and projects. The team deals with a range of commercial and procurement functions, including:

  • Commercial contracts
  • Public procurement regulations
  • Intellectual property law
  • Infrastructure projects
  • Construction law (including the NEC suite of contracts)
  • Public transport schemes
  • Major regeneration and energy projects
  • Regional adult education, skills and training provision

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on all complex and high‑value public procurements and the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts.
  • Engage proactively and effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior officers, directors, members and government officials, to drive the Combined Authority's commercial agenda.
  • Shape, lead and manage the Commercial and Procurement service, guiding the team to provide the Combined Authority with a proactive, professional and comprehensive legal service.
