Principal Clinical Scientist – Training & Specialist Analytical Lead

We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a permanent, full-time position of 37 hours per week. The shift pattern for this post is 0845-1700.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Principal Clinical Scientist to join a team of 5 consultant staff and 7 Clinical Scientists within the Biochemistry Department at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. This well-equipped laboratory provides specialist local and regional endocrine, vitamin and trace element analyses. The successful applicant will lead the highly specialised mass spectrometry laboratory services in the North Sector. They will be responsible for the supervision, training, and line management of the trainee Clinical Scientists enrolled in the Scientist Training Programme (STP). They will be expected to participate in all aspects of the department including reporting, clinical liaison, research and innovation, teaching and audit. Applications are invited from HCPC registered Clinical Scientists with an MSc or equivalent, full Royal College of Pathologists membership, and considerable Clinical Biochemistry experience.
