Primary SEND Teaching Assistant – Year 3 (Bradford)

Full-Time | Long-Term Position | Autism & SEMH Support | Personal Care Desirable

Leader Education are recruiting a dedicated Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with an EHCP in a welcoming primary school located in Bradford. This is a long-term role working closely with a child who requires consistent, nurturing, and structured support to succeed in the classroom.

About the Role

You will work on a 1 : 1 basis with a Year 3 boy who has a diagnosis of Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Your role will be to create a calm, predictable environment that supports the pupil’s learning, emotional regulation, and wellbeing.

  • Providing tailored 1 : 1 support throughout the school day
  • Offering emotional reassurance and helping the pupil self-regulate
  • Supporting access to learning activities and adapting tasks where needed
  • Encouraging positive classroom behaviour and social interaction
  • Implementing strategies recommended by the SENCo and external professionals
  • Building a trusting, consistent relationship with the pupil
  • Personal care may be required, and willingness to assist is desirable but not essential
What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who is patient, empathetic, and able to stay calm under pressure. Experience supporting children with Autism or SEMH needs is highly desirable, but not essential if you bring the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
