Job summary

The post holder will be employed by Greenwich Health, the GP Federation in Greenwich. Greenwich has 7 primary care networks with list sizes of between 30-80,000 patients. The Post holder will work for Riverview Primary Care Network, a grouping of 5 practices.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and treat minor illness in the daily walk‑in clinic
  • Use specialist equipment including nebulisers, ECG machines and read ECGs
  • Undertake routine assessments of patients with acute health problems or long‑term conditions in their home in collaboration with the duty GP where necessary
  • Provide advice and treatment in collaboration with the duty GP to manage acute symptoms or long‑term conditions within the patient’s home to avoid unnecessary hospital visits
  • Where a prescribing qualification is held, prescribe medications in line with personal clinical competence and local guidelines
  • Take a holistic approach to patient care, integrating medical, social and psychological needs
  • Encourage patients to manage their own care and treatment where safe and appropriate, and provide health education
  • Refer patients to alternative health and/or social services
  • Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice Manager
  • Communicate at all levels within the team ensuring an effective service is delivered
  • Maintain accurate, contemporary healthcare records appropriate to the consultation
  • Deliver evidence‑based care at the highest standards ensuring high quality patient care
  • Participate in audit, evaluation and practice change to meet patient needs
  • Contribute positively to team effectiveness and efficiency, seeking advice or support when working at the limit of personal knowledge and/or competence
Qualifications
  • Qualified Paramedic registered with the HCPC
  • Full driving licence
  • Independent prescriber certification (desirable)
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years post‑registration experience
  • Experience in an urgent care setting or rapid response vehicle (essential)
  • Experience in telephone consultation and triaging (desirable)
