A local GP practice in London is seeking a Practice Nurse to join their supportive team. Responsibilities include cervical screening, immunisations, and wound care. Westbury Medical Centre is looking to recruit a Practice Nurse.

We are happy to appoint a newly qualified or experienced practice nurse.

Our GP Surgery is in Wood Green, London N22, and is a friendly, supportive and collaborative GP practice. We have very high rates of staff retention amongst both the clinicians and administration teams.

Our Surgery goes to great lengths to ensure the Surgery team feel supported and valued. There are two experienced GP full time partners and a large multidisciplinary clinical team including physician associates, salaried GP's, HCA's and clinical pharmacists. Our Surgery the uses Emis Web clinical system with Docman and AccuRx.

Main duties of the job

Core Practice Nursing duties expected in the role include:

  • Cervical screening and speculum check examinations. Coding cervical screening results. Supporting recall efforts.
  • Child immunisations and full awareness of primary schedule changes. Supporting recall efforts.
  • Adult immunisations
  • Wound care including compression dressings and ulcer care. Skill in ABPI testing would be an advantage. Suture and staple removal.
  • Liaison with local Tissue Viability Nurse
  • Travel immunisations and advice
  • Long-term condition reviews around asthma, diabetes, COPD, hypertension - to support existing HCA team who manage the majority of this work
  • Contraception. Oral pill checks.
  • Long term drug administration e.g. Zoladex, B12 (with PSD where necessary)
  • Support with relevant practice administration e.g. resuscitation box checking, clinical audit, QOF/LCS work
  • Supporting cold chain management for received vaccines

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • A qualified practice nurse able to work in primary care is an essential criteria for this position.
  • Accordingly we would expect to see candidates having:
  • * completed an NMC approved nursing degree
  • * current active registration with NMC as a registered nurse
  • * experience working as practice nurse in primary care at least as part of training
  • Experience with Emis Web, Docman, AccuRx software packages.
  • Live within 30 minutes commute to the Surgery using public transport (our postcode N22 6RX).
