We are currently seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to support respiratory clinics in the Nottingham (NG16) area. This is an excellent opportunity for an autonomous nurse with spirometry experience who is looking for flexible work within a friendly GP Surgery.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory assessment and monitoring services to patients, supporting the diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Conduct comprehensive spirometry testing in accordance with ARTP (Association for Respiratory Technology & Physiology) and BTS (British Thoracic Society) guidelines.
Prepare patients for testing by explaining the procedure clearly, ensuring informed consent, and identifying any contraindications.
Calibrate and maintain spirometry equipment daily to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Perform pre- and post-bronchodilator spirometry where clinically indicated, following infection control and safety protocols.
Record and interpret results accurately, identifying normal and abnormal readings, and reporting significant findings to the GP or respiratory lead.
Assist in the diagnosis, management, and monitoring of patients with asthma, COPD, and other respiratory diseases.
Support recall and review processes, contributing to QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) respiratory targets.
Provide lifestyle and self-management advice, including smoking cessation, inhaler technique checks, and education on respiratory health.
Maintain accurate clinical records, ensuring data is coded and uploaded correctly.
