Job description
Practice Based Educator – Surgical Wards

The closing date is 04 December 2025

We are delighted to announce that we have a vacancy for a Practice Based Educator to join the Surgery nursing team at Wythenshawe Hospital, covering both elective and emergency admission wards. The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent knowledge of general surgery and good knowledge of other specialties such as urology, plastics, trauma and orthopaedics, ENT and breast surgery.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our nursing team.

Are you a Registered Nurse with evidence of teaching, two years post‑registration experience and a portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievements in practice and education?

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a charismatic and engaging individual who can connect with clinical nursing teams at all levels and support cultural and behavioural changes within teams to ensure improvements in the delivery of the best possible patient experience.

A large part of the role will be clinically focused ward‑based training, as well as contributing to the wider education programme. You will also work clinically within the team to maintain credibility and understand the nursing environment you are supporting. This is an ideal opportunity to step outside a ward/department‑based role and use your experience, knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of a strong, quality‑focused workforce for the future.

As well as the opportunity to develop personally and professionally within the team, you’ll have the chance to use your creative skills in delivering training and education. You will be supported through an annual appraisal, personal development planning and ongoing support.
