Owen Reed is looking for a Practice Assistant – Banking and Insolvency for a top law firm in London. This is a permanent role offering hybrid working (2 days office, 3 days from home) and the opportunity to support a high-performing Banking & Insolvency team.

As a Practice Assistant, you will provide proactive, high-quality support to fee earners, ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional client service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone organised, detail-driven and looking to grow within a leading London practice.

Key Responsibilities – Organisational Support
  • Proactive diary management and forward planning with minimal supervision.
  • Process applications, forms and searches accurately.
  • Strong understanding of departmental systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities – Client Relationship & Business Development
  • Act as first point of contact, delivering excellent service to internal and external clients.
  • Assist with marketing communications and record BD activity in InterAction.
  • Ensure client confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities – Document Production
  • Produce high-quality, accurate typed work and format documents to house style.
  • Use the Document Management System effectively and create documents from templates.
  • Proofread documents for grammar, spelling and clarity.
Key Responsibilities – IT & Systems
  • Maintain strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Key Responsibilities – File Management
  • Work with fee earners to ensure all files are maintained, updated, closed and archived correctly.
  • Keep accurate records of files transferred to off-site storage.
Key Responsibilities – Financial & Risk Management
  • Prepare bills and assist with financial documentation.
  • Complete AML checks and obtain required client documentation.
  • Carry out conflict searches and correctly identify work types.
