We are now recruiting for a well-respected, boutique-sized firm of accountants in Central Manchester, seeking an ambitious Practice Accountant.

My client has an exceptional reputation in the industry and a wide, varied client base across numerous industries and business entities.

The ideal candidate will be an ambitious ACCA/ACA qualified accountant, eager to progress in their career, working within a forward-thinking accountancy practice in prosperous Manchester.

The successful Practice Accountant is likely to have at least 5 years of experience in a general accountancy practice, carrying out tasks such as accounts preparation, VAT returns, tax computations, and possibly audit.

This role reports directly to the regulatory body. It offers an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to further their career within a practice focused on staff growth and progression.

This Practice Accountant role requires:

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Handling small business accounting with journals
• Preparing working papers and annual accounts for sole traders and owner-managed SMEs
• Preparing statutory accounts in accordance with UK FRS 105 and FRS 102A
• Preparing corporation tax returns for small-sized companies
• Reviewing VAT returns and submissions under MTD
• Communicating with clients
• Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
• Supervising a team of accounts and training staff as appropriate
• Processing journals and finalising accounts
• Preparing accounts and VAT returns for sole traders, companies, and partnerships
• Ensuring HMRC compliance

Additional duties include telephone and face-to-face liaison with clients, including onsite visits, and other ad-hoc tasks.

Person Specification:

• ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience within a general practice setting
• Previous experience in a similar role in practice is essential
• Proficient with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Xero
• Knowledge of current financial and tax regulations
• Focus on quality assurance and customer care
• Strong communication skills and team spirit
• At least 3 years of experience in an accountancy firm
• Excellent oral and written English skills

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
