Postdoctoral researcher – University of Reading

We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Environmental Research Division and work on a 3-year NERC funded project to implement and test a newly developed process-based model of ocean heat uptake that will improve the accuracy of climate change projections by simple climate models.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to the development, implementation and testing of a process-based model of ocean heat uptake within a climate modeling framework, and participate in project planning, data analysis and dissemination of results.

Qualifications
  • A recently completed PhD in Physical Oceanography or related discipline
  • Experience with analysing oceanic observations and/or climate model simulations
  • Strong numeracy skills and proficiency in a programming language such as Python/Matlab/Fortran
  • Publication record commensurate with experience
