Job description
Porter Security

The closing date is 18 February 2026

Support the porter services supervisor and porter team leader in supervising the provision of porter and security services delivery that are managed from a Facilities control centre based at the hospital. And ensuring a high quality service is delivered to patients, staff and visitors in accordance with service specifications. Post holder will be required to perform supplementary duties to respond to service needs and that are appropriate to the Facilities services and in line with their grade.

Main duties of the job

Provide a full range of operational porter services 24/7. Prioritise and respond to security incidents where required and provide a porter/security service at other local health sites where detailed in the post assignment instructions.

Report to the porter services duty supervisor and the police any individuals reported or discovered committing criminal offences on health board premises in accordance with health board security policy and procedures.

To undertake the day‑to‑day routine duties the post holder is required to use various types of equipment and audit tool and communication devices supplied by the facilities department.

Provide building security, lock down and security patrols internally and externally. To respond to site CCTV and alarm systems. Provide mobile security to other Cwm Taf sites where alarms are activated.

In the event of a major incident or to support adverse weather or other Facilities services contingency, the post holder may be required to be called into work outside of normal working hours to support the porter services manager in managing the contingency when and where required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Prior work experience of porter security or transport services within the health service
  • Working within a busy customer focused and productive work environment (preferably within a healthcare setting)
Education/Qualifications/Training
  • Full driving licence
  • Training equivalent to SIA accreditation certificate of training
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of confidentiality compliance
  • Basic knowledge of porter or transport, waste, security services, healthcare porter services
  • Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
