Job description

Role: Plant Operative

Salary: £28,157.22 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Location: Dartford

An existing NPORS, ITSSAR or equivalent accredited competence certificate in Materials Re-handler 360 is required for this role.

The Role

Managing Waste has a new opening for a Plant Operative to join our Waste and Recycling Centre in Dartford! The successful candidate will operate the plant safely and ensure the machines are kept clean inside and out. They will ensure health and safety rules are maintained by recording pre-use inspections of the plant and logging any issues and reporting to management. Plant operatives will also carry out duties of a Site Operative by greeting customers and helping them during their visit to the site.

It is essential that the successful candidate hold a NPORS, ITSSAR or equivalent accredited body operative competence certificate to operate a wheeled Materials handler with elevating cab, please consider this prior to your application.

Key Duties

• Operating plant safely in accordance with company policies and site procedures, ensuring the plant machinery is kept clean inside and out
• Conducting pre-use inspections of the plant before and after each shift, logging any faults and reporting them to the site management
• Taking reasonable care of yourself and others whilst working on site and reporting any health and safety issues to the site manager / supervisor
• Maintaining a clean site throughout and enforcing all site rules for visitors. Handling spillages in accordance with procedures and sweeping or litter picking as necessary
• Providing an excellent customer experience, informing customers of the recycling facilities, controlling traffic of all vehicles and pedestrians on site and directing any complaints to a Manager

What we need from you

• NPORS, ITSSAR or equivalent accredited body operative competence certificate to operate a wheeled Materials handler with elevating cab
• Good knowledge, approach and understanding of health and safety
• Able to work outside in all weathers / conditions
• Flexibility is key – we’re open 7 days per week, must be able to commit to Saturdays and Sundays
• Hardworking, friendly and approachable
