Overview
As a Preventative Maintenance Engineer, you will work with the controller to maximise the operational availability of equipment for the customer through timely and efficient routine and preventative maintenance servicing and machine inspections. You will identify possible issues which may impact availability and perform minor repairs as requested. You will be an ambassador for safety, servicing products in a manner that promotes safety for self and customer.
This role is field-based and requires a full driving licence for at least 2 years. Working pattern is Monday – Friday with one Saturday in three at overtime rate. Working hours are 43 per week with flexible start and finish times.
Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative maintenance servicing in line with manufacturers guidelines, including routine oil sampling.
- Perform machine inspections (visual and mechanical analysis) to identify developing issues in hydraulic, electrical, powertrain and mechanical systems.
- Complete minor repairs identified during inspection and install telematics systems; carry out undercarriage inspections.
- Liaise with service controller and customer at the outset and as work progresses; ensure work is completed to high standards and equipment is safe before handing back to the customer.
- Ensure equipment is serviced in line with manufacturers recommendations and complete all related paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, including customer signatures.
- Take proper care of company vehicle and equipment.
Education and Experience / Qualifications
- Either direct experience (around 3 years) or experience in a related engineering function, e.g. car mechanic, HGV fitter, Agricultural Engineer or REME/military vehicle background; or a formal apprenticeship qualification that includes at least a C&G level 1.
- Formal training in health and safety is desirable but not essential; further training will be provided. This role offers opportunities to progress to a field service position with further development.
