A local authority in the East Midlands is seeking a Planning Policy Officer for a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension. Job description

Our client is a Local Authority based in East Midlands and they require a Planning Policy Officer to join them for a contract role.

You will be required to carry out monitoring functions for the Planning Service and produce reports analysing the results, including monitoring the Local Plan, provide good quality and up to date advice on planning policy issues and undertake research in connection with planning policy.

Specifically you will:

• Assist with finalising regulation 19, Local Plan
• Responding to Local Plan consultations
• Preparation of evidence base
• Initial drafting of Local Plan

To apply for this role you will need a relevant degree level qualification and, ideally, professional accreditation. You must have demonstrable understanding of UK town planning procedures, providing a solid foundation for effective decision-making and proven experience in planning policy work, showcasing your ability to navigate complex challenges. You must be able to demonstrate experience in public participation/engagement, fostering collaborative relationships within the community. Holding a Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute would be beneficial.

This contract will initially be offered for 3 months though it could be extended beyond this, and the rate offered is £31/hr Umbrella. This role is inside IR35.

Our client offers hybrid working arrangements, you’ll need to go into the office about once a fortnight.
