An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning Engineer to join a forward-thinking, highly innovative main contractor based in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Planning Engineer to become part of an established team working on a long-term, secured framework that offers stability, progression, and exposure to a diverse portfolio of challenging construction schemes. As a key member of the planning function, you will provide high-quality programme support across multiple live and upcoming projects, ensuring programmes are robust, accurate, and aligned with delivery targets. Using Primavera P6, you'll build, update, and manage detailed project schedules while offering clear insight into sequencing, constraints, risk, and progress. You'll play a hands‑on role within the region, working closely with project, commercial, and engineering teams, making your strong UK site‑based experience and NEC contract knowledge essential to success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update project programmes in Primavera P6 for a variety of complex construction projects.
  • Support project teams with sequencing, planning strategy, progress measurement, and forecasting.
  • Ensure programmes comply with NEC contract requirements, providing accurate reporting and supporting contract administration.
  • Work collaboratively with site teams, senior planners, and project managers to ensure alignment on delivery methodology and key milestones.
  • Attend progress meetings, offering clear, confident insights on programme performance and critical path.
Candidate
  • Strong experience working on UK construction industry with a good understanding of buildability, sequencing, and live project challenges.
  • Proficient user of Primavera P6
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts and associated planning/reporting requirements.
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
