Job summary

A leading aviation training provider in Portsmouth is seeking a Pipefitter Instructor to train individuals on pipework fitting and brazing techniques. The role involves maintaining strong relationships with clients and updating training materials. Candidates must have at least a Level 3 Technical Certificate in Engineering and excellent hands-on skills. This full-time position requires UK Security Clearance and offers a salary between £39,000 - £41,000 on a term-time basis, working 45 weeks per year.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
  • Level 4 Teaching Qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Previous instructional experience in military or civilian engineering environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training on pipework fitting from design.
  • Teach Brazing techniques.
  • Maintain relationships within Marine Engineering training.
  • Support trainee development through assessment and feedback.
  • Update training materials and improve training delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards.

Job description

Our client is currently looking for a Pipefitter Instructor to join them on a permanent basis. As the Pipefitter Instructor you will provide support to the delivery of training across Coppersmith/Pipefitter skills area within Skill of Hand Training group.

Role: Pipefitter Instructor
Location: Portsmouth
Hours: Full Time - Monday to Friday 09:00-17:30
Salary: 39,000 - 41,000

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

Responsibilities
  • Provide training on how to fit pipework on ships from a drawing (Fit from design)
  • Teaching Brazing techniques
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues within the Marine Engineering Electrical training area.
  • Support trainee development through assessment, feedback, and personalised learning approaches.
  • Maintain and update training materials and contribute to modernising and improving training delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with KPIs, SLAs, and safety standards, while maintaining a CPD portfolio.
Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 3 Technical Certificate in an Engineering discipline
  • Be proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software) within the workplace
  • Competent practical Coppersmith/Pipefitter hand skills
  • Proven experience in workshop/industry principles
Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications
  • Level 4 Teaching Qualification / DCTS Defence Train The Trainer Course or equivalent (successful completion)
  • Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment
Term Time Basis

This role is offered on a term time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro rata'd and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
