Job summary

PIP 2 Investigator

Location: London - Iverson House (SE1) or FHQ Buckingham Palace Road (SW1W)

Contract: Fixed term (05/01/26 - 31/03/2026) with likely extension

Hours: 40 hours per week, condensed days and differing hour considered

Pay Rate: £20.98 PAYE per hour

About the Role

We are seeking PIP 2 accredited investigators to support operational detective colleagues with serious and complex crime investigations across London.

This is an office-based role with no remote working. You will investigate crimes, manage evidence, liaise with victims, witnesses, and partners, and ensure investigations meet legislative and organisational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Progress serious and complex investigations, supporting CID and IMU functions.
  • Gather, preserve, and manage evidence and intelligence with continuity and integrity.
  • Conduct PACE-compliant interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects.
  • Prepare disclosure schedules and case files for court.
  • Liaise with operational colleagues, CPS, and partner agencies.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safeguarding, and victim care in line with national standards.
  • Desk-based investigative work including CCTV review, property management, and telephony statements.
Essential skills and experience
  • PIP Level 2 Accreditation (certificate or proof of registration on College of Policing database).
  • Strong detective background with recent investigative experience (within last 3-5 years).
  • Proven experience investigating serious crimes, preparing case files, and managing disclosure.
  • Knowledge of PACE, CPIA, and investigative best practice.
  • Ability to work independently and manage sensitive information.
