Overview

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Physiotherapist for long‑term placement contracts at Royal Hallamshire and Northern General Hospitals.

Responsibilities
  • Carry a clinical caseload, including complex specialist cases, requiring clinical reasoning and highly specialist therapy, planning and prioritising work.
  • Explain therapy, gain consent and motivate the patient to achieve goals.
  • Gather, analyse and evaluate information to identify problems in partnership with the patient, carer and colleagues.
  • Participate in 7‑day working rosters and emergency respiratory on‑call rota for evenings/weekends where criteria apply.
  • Select and use appropriate assessment techniques in hospital, the patient’s own home and/or in the community; make clinical diagnosis and apply clinical reasoning.
  • Negotiate, agree expectations and set appropriate, realistic and individualised therapy goals in partnership with the patient, carer and colleagues.
  • Set up equipment for therapy and ensure it is used safely by patients, carers, staff and/or students.
  • Carry out clinical duties that contribute towards integrated patient care as part of therapeutic practice.
  • Complete assessment forms, write comprehensive patient treatment records and produce written transfer and discharge reports in line with Trust and Therapy Services Guidelines.
Qualifications
  • BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Competency in Physiotherapy clinical reasoning, processes & practices.
  • Post‑registration NHS experience as a Physiotherapist.
  • Able to maintain accurate written records & statistics utilising relevant IT.
