Overview

As a Pharmacy Stores Assistant, the post holder will be working within both inpatient and outpatient dispensaries and be responsible for providing an effective and efficient stores and distribution service to all wards, departments, and off-site locations. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly to support our busy Pharmacy Stores Team.

This is a physical role entailing manual handling. The Christie Pharmacy are advocates of in-house career progression, providing development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. We are looking for individuals to join our friendly and forward-thinking team, whether or not you are currently working in a pharmacy setting.

Responsibilities
  • To ensure the safe unloading and storage of goods in accordance with local and national guidelines.
  • To ensure goods are correctly recorded and distributed within agreed timescales.
  • To ensure delivery notes are checked and any stock discrepancies are rectified.
  • Receiving, receipt and distribution of pharmacy deliveries from approved suppliers whilst achieving the agreed level of quality required by the Trust.
  • Assist in the process of invoice payment through electronic systems.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve any stock issues.
  • Assist with distribution of goods to the Trust under our wholesale license.
  • To work effectively within a team.
  • To undertake other roles within the department as requested by the pharmacy management team, supporting activities around patient flow.
  • To undertake personal development as identified through performance and appraisal reviews.
  • Pharmacy stock date and temperature checking.
  • Preparing stock orders for various wards, departments, and outreach sites.
  • Understanding and following COSHH procedures when handling potentially hazardous stock such as cytotoxic medicines.
  • Assisting in the management and maintenance of pharmacy stock levels.
  • Demonstrates the agreed set of values and is accountable for own attitude and behaviour.

The Christie Pharmacy Ltd (TCP) is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The company was formed in December 2017 to provide a high-quality pharmacy service to both inpatients and outpatients of the Trust.

Our services include:

  • Dispensing and supplying medication to inpatients in wards and clinics
  • Supporting The Christie at Home service, allowing patients to receive certain cancer treatments at home
  • Providing bespoke medication for The Christie at Salford, The Christie at Oldham and fourteen other outreach sites
  • Wholesale supplying medicines and devices to all wards on the Withington site
