A family is seeking to expand their team of dedicated and compassionate personal care assistants to support their mum in the Kielder area. Support is required 7 days a week across morning, afternoon and evening calls to support her in and around her own home and in her local community.
The successful candidates will take a person-centered approach to care, supporting the client’s independence, well-being, and choices, while providing essential personal, social, and domestic care. This lady likes to cook and bake as well as go out in the community for short walks. She enjoys listening to music from Elvis Presley to Status Quo, watching old TV programmes (e.g., Casualty), and doing crosswords and puzzles.
To support as a second person/personal care assistant for an older lady with significant health and mobility needs, including getting in/out of bed, toileting and showering, meal preparation, feeding, and administering medication, while also socialising by taking a person-centred approach and encouraging her to engage in activities or interests she chooses.
The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.
Personal specification: Car driver preferred.
An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense).
Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the care worker will be expected to attend. This will include safeguarding Adults/children’s, moving and handling, medication awareness and any additional training specific to the client.
Rate of Pay
Employee £17.23 higher rate
Weekly Hours – 6 hours a week - Times to be discussed and confirmed at interview, hours to be shared between Monday and Friday preferably.
